Well the hunt is on folks.... yep, we're getting down to crunch time to find an apartment in downtown Calgary. And oooohhh is it cold to be walking around on the search. I am so excited to be moving in with my dear friend Faye. It will be a lot of fun!! It will be so nice to have my own home and to make a place for myself in a community.
The weekend has passed with much laughter, heartfelt moments and (sheepishly admitting) many tears. It has been a crazy busy cold weekend, but the romance surrounding a former roomie's wedding warmed the heart deeply. Laughing and giggling with new and old friends has warmed the soul.
A recent conversation with a dear close friend, has stirred my thoughts about love and compassion, about living counter-culture, about leaving impacts on society, and for leading the world toward change.
I am challenged today to live a life uninhibited, fully abandoned in Him, living out loud love and compassion unending. I long to fight (as the warrior that I am) against injustice... always will! However, I long to fight for and with those who're held down by crap in thier lives. We think often that preaching is standing at the front of a church, leading a ministry, being apart of a ministry team, doing missions, being involved at church, etc.
Yet, I think ministry is the decisions we make in reaction to what life surrounds us with and has us face. I think it's the habits we choose to have. I think it's the choices to love the unloved, the losers, the outcasts. I think that ministry is learning how to give to other's needs. Learning how to understand people, show them the character of Christ, the fruit of the Holy Spirit. I believe ministry is doing life focused on Christ with His heart and His eyes for the people around us. I believe it's about slowing down long enough to pick up a social conscious and do something about it.
When will we slow down. When will we open our eyes. When will we do something about what society is telling us. When will we stand up and fight for truth and integrity in our lives as followers and ambassadors of Christ? When will we seriously do what we say we will do and Love Christ and Love our neighbours? When?

Very challenging Tanya! I can truly feel the passion you have about this. It challenges me, a stay at home mother of two whose day consists of Sesame Street and diapers, to remember that there is a world outside my four walls.
how fun to be moving back into the apartment.
